Pentagon devotes $3.6 billion to build wall with Mexico
The Pentagon announced that it has allocated $3.6 billion to finance the construction of a 280-kilometer wall on the border with Mexico, at the request of President Donald Trump.
Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman told reporters that in order to secure the funds, the Pentagon decided to \"postpone\" 127 projects to build and modernize military buildings inside and outside the United States for which the funds were allocated in the 2019 budget.
Earlier this year, Trump declared a national emergency in an effort to get money for the project, which was one of his campaign promises, after a crisis that led to the longest closure of government institutions in U.S. history.
